The Yachats Commons, originally the Yachats School, is the heart and soul of the village of Yachats.
When first purchased from the school district by my Mayoral administration in 1990, the Commons became a new home for the City Hall and City Council Chambers.
The City Hall has since moved next door to the old bank building.
Public meetings, preschool classes, art shows, music festivals, mushroom festivals, and informative lectures are still offered here year around.
The Multipurpose Room also provides a large space for the ever-growing pickleball crowd, basketball, and exercise classes.
In 1999, The Lions Club hired me to prepare drawings for a large outdoor pavillion located on the site.
Children's playgrounds, a skate park, and a large field for softball etc. were included in the Commons site.
The western part of the property features a beautiful wetlands park with trails and ponds full of wildlife.
